6/15/19: Showers to start the Father’s Day Holiday

Weather Blog

Latest Forecast Update from Meteorologist Rob Lindenmuth:

Scattered showers will be likely through the night tonight, it will remain mild with temperatures mainly in the upper 50’s and low 60’s. The humidity will also be increasing and will set the stage for a slightly humid Sunday afternoon. Highs for Father’s Day, because of the showers, will be cooler than normal and cooler than what we saw today, ranging in the 60’s and low 70’s.

High pressure to the east helped to bring in milder temperatures today, however, it will also help to slow down the system that is moving through tonight and into the first half of Sunday.

Cold front to our north and an area of low pressure with a decent amount of moisture now over Iowa will continue to converge on the northeast. Ahead of the moisture the humidity will increase, and we will see several hours of showers and even a few thunderstorms to start Sunday.

Once the rain ends tomorrow, which should begin by 1pm from west to east we will remain mostly cloudy but any evening cookouts should be a go!

The rain will begin tonight, we are already seeing scattered showers this evening and that trend will continue through the night, increasing in coverage after midnight.

Waking up on Father’s Day we will be seeing some showers.

And those showers along with a few heavier downpours and even a rumble of thunder will persist through the mid-morning hours.

By the mid-afternoon the bulk of the rain should be exiting the region which will set the stage for a mostly cloudy second half of the afternoon but much drier as well.

Any plans for a cookout? It should be nice, although cloudy, at least the rain should be ending before that.

High pressure builds in for a brief time on Monday which will promote partly sunny skies along with temperatures in the mid to upper 70’s. However, beyond Monday we look to remain unsettled right through the start of next weekend with temperatures hovering in the mid to upper 70’s, but we will hold on to the threat for showers and storms each and every day.

Have a great Night!
