Latest Forecast Update From Meteorologists Jess Briganti and Rob Lindenmuth:

Happy Friday morning! Waking up to a few showers and even some heavier downpours this morning, that is as a warm front is pushing through the region for us which will allow our temperatures to once again climb to near 70 degrees this afternoon! After the showers dissipate this morning, expect the winds to pick up a bit through the afternoon but we should see some sunshine before a cold front swings through that could help to spark a few showers and perhaps even a gusty thunderstorm.

Looking at the surface analysis as of 3:30 this morning there is a cluster of showers and heavier downpours north of Albany out ahead of a warm front which is approaching from the west. Most of us look to get clipped by these showers through late morning and early afternoon.

There is a cold front that is moving through the Great Lakes as well that will be pushing through the northeast as we head through late afternoon and into early evening. So, after this initial batch of rain this morning this afternoon looks to be nice with gusty winds at times, some sunshine and temperatures approaching 70 before showers become likely once again.

By noon today most of the shower activity is through the region for us so I do believe we will see a fair amount of dry time.

However, by 3 or 4 this afternoon it would be wise to keep an eye to the sky as a cold front will be approaching the region from the west. This would bring the opportunity for a few showers as well as a few gusty thunderstorms, especially south and east of Albany.

However, high pressure is building in behind this cold front, that will set the stage for a fairly decent weekend, meaning we should see a fair amount of dry time along with sunshine and temperatures near average!

When you wake up Saturday we will see some sunshine and as we progress through the afternoon it will become more of a mix of clouds and sun.

The good news is, Saturday we will be near 70 once again, but as we close out the weekend on Sunday and even into Monday temperatures could spike near 80 before a cold front moves through with showers and thunderstorms Monday, so we will have to be weather aware Monday as some of those storms could become locally strong.

Have a great Friday!
