ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) — Josh Allen’s near perfect game against the Dolphins has earned the Bills quarterback another AFC offensive player of the week accolade, along with his fifth FedEx NFL Air player of the week honor.

Allen was 21 of 25 passing for 320 yards, with four touchdowns and no interceptions, and an additional 17 yards rushing and TD, in Sunday’s 48-20 win against Miami. Allen’s 158.3 passer rating was the first perfect mark in his career.

Allen has been recognized by the NFL twice in three weeks, and 12 times in his career, a Bills franchise record. After struggling in Buffalo’s opening loss, Allen’s strong play in three consecutive victories — completing 77% of his passes for 812 yards, with eight touchdowns and one interception — has made him the betting favorite to win NFL MVP at +400 odds.

In becoming the second NFL quarterback in history to have more than 300 yards passing, four touchdown passes, a rushing TD, and a perfect QB rating, Allen connected with star receiver Stefon Diggs for six receptions, 120 yards and three touchdowns.

Diggs, “should’ve gotten player of the week this week,” Allen said. The receiver has been AFC offensive player of the week once during his four seasons with the Bills, in Week 16 of the 2020 season. Allen has been awarded six times since.

The Bills, who play the Jaguars on Sunday in London, have had award winners each of the past three weeks. Linebacker Terrel Bernard was AFC defensive player of the week after the win against the Commanders, and kicker Tyler Bass was AFC special teams player of the month for September.

Allen received FedEx Air recognition once last season and three times during the 2020 season. The only other Bills quarterback to win the award was Trent Edwards in 2008. FedEx will make a $2,000 donation in Allen’s name to a Historically Black College or University for needs-based scholarships to deserving HBCU students.

University at Buffalo alumni Khalil Mack is the AFC defensive player of the week after setting the Chargers record with six sacks in a win against the Raiders.
