WEB EXTRA: Rep. Tonko and local worker discuss impact of government shutdown in Capital Region


In an announcement, the United Way of the Greater Capital Region announced Friday the launch of an emergency response fund to support regional government employees affected by the shutdown.

Later that day, President Trump announced a short-term deal to reopen the government until Feb. 15. 

NEWS10’s Cassie Hudson spoke with Congressman Paul Tonko and Cheyanne Chase, a TSA worker, before President Trump’s announcement, to learn how the government shutdown has been affecting the Capital Region.
