GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) — On Wednesday, November 10 at 6:01 p.m., the Glens Falls Fire Department received a call for a structure fire at 24 Horicon Avenue with a report of a person entrapped on the second floor.

When Glen Falls FD arrived they found an 86-year-old female during their initial search. She was removed from the home by Fire Officials who then immediately began lifesaving efforts. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A 48-year-old male who was able to escape from the residence suffered burns to his hands, face, and airway. He was transported by Bay Ridge Rescue Squad and then eventually flown to Upstate Medical University Burn Center in Syracuse. The condition of this patient is unknown.

Two of the family’s dogs also perished in the fire.

The fire allegedly started in an attached garage where a vehicle was being worked on. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The investigation is being conducted by Glens Falls Fire Department Cause and Origin Team with support from the Glens Falls Police Department
