VT Senate considering 24 hour handgun waiting period

Vermont News

The Vermont Senate is poised to consider a proposal that would create a 24 hour waiting period before people can buy handguns.

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved the proposal, which would also roll back some restrictions on high-capacity magazines that became law last year.

The committee’s chairman says the bill is a middle ground of current policy and an earlier proposal for a 48 hour waiting period.

The bill is similar to one of New York’s brand new gun laws.
