Southern Vermont College (SVC) announced it is closing its doors following the spring semester.
The decision came following a meeting with the SVC board.
The college says the New England Commission of Higher Education’s concerns was limited to its finances only and not the quality of education provided at the school.
Students currently enrolled and meet graduation requirements will receive an accredited SVC degree.
“Our highest goal is to protect continuing students as much as possible and ensure that they can continue their education with minimal disruption.”
The college says it has reached a preferred teach-out agreement with the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts that provides a clear pathway and financial equity for most SVC programs. For information about transfers and other requirements, click here.
For programs without a direct match, and for students who would like to explore other options, SVC recommends students work with Norwich University, Castleton University, and others.
Additional information regarding financial aid will be provided in the coming days.
