MONTPELIER, Vt. (NEWS10) – The Vermont Legislature passed a bill to legalize marijuana in the state on Wednesday.

The bill now heads to Governor Phil Scott’s desk.

If signed into law, the bill would eliminate penalties for personal marijuana possession of one ounce or less and cultivation by adults 21 and older beginning in July 2018.

It would also create a study commission on regulating and taxing marijuana for adult use.
