BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) – A circus school based in Brattleboro, Vermont, plans to start building a new 8,400-square-foot facility in September.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports the New England Center for Circus Arts secured permission to build its new facility in town on Monday.
A representative for the school showed the planning board designs for a metal building with concave wings and windows.
The architect wanted to design a building that wasn’t rectangular. The building is meant to appear inviting, with people seen up in the air and tumbling.
Plans also call for an indoor trapeze center, which the school says would be the only trapezium in the country.
Officials say a hillside in the rear of the property is expected to become an outdoor performance space. Part of a wall would be climbable.
