Volunteers beginning to cook, prepare food for annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Food preparation and cooking will begin Sunday morning for Equinox’s 47th annual Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner.

The Equinox event is the longest running Thanksgiving community dinner in the country. It feeds about 10,000 residents in the Capital Region who may be homeless or in other difficult circumstances.

Early Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 24, thousands of volunteer drivers will line up at the Empire State Plaza to pick up meals, and deliver them to households within a 40 mile radius of Albany.

A sit-down dinner will take place Thursday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church.
