ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)–Volunteer fire departments across New York State are getting the word out early about a recruitment event happening soon. They want anyone who thinks volunteering could be a fit for them to stop on by.

Experts with the Fireman’s Association of the State of New York say volunteers make up more than 70% of the state’s fire response. Even so, volunteer numbers are dwindling.
