At Albany International Airport, United Way of the Greater Capital Region announced the launch of an emergency response fund to aide regional government employee affected by the shutdown.
The organization, along with Price Chopper and other local companies committing $10,000 each to aide workers struggling during the crisis.
Capital Region residents can donate to the fund online or by texting “shutdown” to 313131. TSA workers started to pick up gift cards worth $100 right away.
President Trump announced Friday a short-term deal to reopen the government until Feb. 15.
