WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) – Worcester police say a teenager stole a pickup truck and sped away with the owner hanging off the side before leading police on a high-speed chase that ended in his arrest.

The Telegram & Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/2gaSq3D ) that the 17-year-old boy was arrested Saturday afternoon on charges including assault with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on police officers. His name hasn’t been released.

Authorities say the owner hung from the truck as it sped through city streets. When the owner finally fell, police say he was almost run over by the truck.

Police say the truck hit a fence and they caught the boy during a foot chase. Authorities say the teen kicked two officers while trying to escape.

The truck owner’s condition wasn’t available Sunday.
