1 dead after structure fire in Mont Pleasant in Schenectady

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police confirmed to NEWS10 that one person died after a structure fire in Mont Pleasant in Schenectady early this morning. No other injuries have been reported.

NEWS10’s Harrison Grubb was at the scene of a structure fire on Webster Street.

According to the Schenectady Fire Assistant Chief, crews were able to control the fire in under 45 minutes. When crews arrived they saw heavy fire in the back of the building. Neighboring homes were evacuated and there were no damages to those homes.

Hamilton Elementary is also closed today because of this scene.

The fire is still under investigation.
