Beware surge pricing while ridesharing

Uber and Lyft are two of the most popular ways for people to get around these days. Fast, convenient but sometimes expensive if you’re not careful. 

Taking one of these rides when they are in high demand can lead to “sticker shock” if you get hit by something called “the surge.” A ride can cost five times as much as it usually does if there are more riders than cars available.

Here are some ways you can avoid overpaying for that next ride.
