Sen. Schumer pushing for law to help people stay in touch during emergencies

WASHINGTON (NEWS10) – Sen. Chuck Schumer is pushing for a law that would help people stay in touch with loved ones during emergencies like a hurricane.

The Securing Access to Networks in Disasters Act would make it possible for consumer cell phones to work on other carriers during emergencies if one went down.

Communication providers including television, radio, and landline phones would also get the tools they need to fix outages faster, even across state lines.
