(NEWS10) – Software Security Company Lookout found that a software bug is leaving 80 percent of Android devices, or about 1.4 billion devices, at risk of security vulnerabilities.

According to Lookout, the bug leaves devices vulnerable to a “spying attack” when an individual uses unencrypted data connections.

Devices running Android 4.4 KitKat to the latest version are vulnerable to the attacks.

Lookout says it anticipates that Google will issue a software update to patch this vulnerability in the future.
