Building collapses, 2 others damaged in 9th Street fire in Troy

Rensselaer County

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Flames fully engulfed three homes in the city of Troy Tuesday night.

The fire broke out at 373-377 9th St. Two of the homes were vacant, but two families were in one of the homes at the time of the fire. Troy Fire Chief Eric J. McMahon said three people and two children got out safely. He said Red Cross is on the scene to assist the families.

Officials said the middle building completely collapsed. Chief McMahon said initially fire crews had water pressure issues and had trouble containing it at first.

Both families escaped the fire. No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
