SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Officers say two men were arrested for allegedly breaking into Mohonasen High School and siphoning gas from a construction vehicle outside of the building and materials from inside.
Police say while on routine patrol, an officer saw two males on the property of the Center for Science and Technology on the Mohonasen High School campus on Curry Rd. The police officer says they were in the process of stealing fuel from a piece of heavy equipment at the construction site by the use of a siphon.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that they had broken into the Center for Science and Technology building and stole construction materials from within, which were found in their possession.
The two males are being identified as 19-year-old Duane Harding of Amsterdam and 20-year-old Thomas Rushia of Rotterdam
The pair were arraigned in Rotterdam Town Court on the following charges, and remanded to the Schenectady County Jail on $15,000 bail
They are being charged with Burglary in the third degree, a felony, Possession of Burglar’s Tools, Petit Larceny, Attempted Petit Larceny and Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree.
