EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York State Police continue to investigate a 22-year-old homicide of a Rensselaer County woman.

Back on August 19th, 1994, the body of 81-year-old Wilomeana “Violet” Filkins was discovered by family members in the living room of her apartment at Coventry Apartments. The apartments are now known as Horizon Ridge Apartments in East Greenbush.

Police think she was killed two days earlier on August 17th.

Three years later in September of ’97, police found some of Violet’s personal property on a road behind the Nassau-Schodack Cemetery.

Police think whoever killed her drove her 1989 Plymouth to the area and dumped the property.

The family is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police at (518)-783-3211.
