GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Artists in the wild? It’s more likely than you think. Glens Falls artists have been painting electrical boxes along the path of a new project for the city, and as of November, their colorful work is done.

The goal is to add some artistic beauty to the budding Arts District of Glens Falls. The art will be joined by banners, bike racks and sidewalk stamps that all mark the path between 10 arts destinations, like the Hyde Museum and Chapman Museum, and 14 arts organizations and councils.
“This is only the beginning,” says spokesperson Chad Rabinovitz, former artistic director of
Adirondack Theatre Festival and co-owner of The Candy Space in Lake George, in a press release. “We have major plans for public art, from large-scale murals on buildings to statement sculptures. You
won’t be able to come to Glens Falls without knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that this
is a place that loves the arts.”
There are seven painted electrical boxes in all. The full list of artists commissioned by the Arts District of Glens Falls includes Hannah Williams, Shelley Fairbanks, Rodney Allen Bentley, Olga Aleksandrova, Kevin Clark, Stephanie Vaus and Leah Hofgesang.
The arts district has plenty farther to go. Six $1,000 sponsorships are being offered for the construction of a large Adirondack chair downtown, to be painted with a cityscape designed by Anthony Richichi.
The electrical boxes were sponsored by the Touba Family Foundation.
