NYC lawmakers voting to ban cashless businesses due to discrimination

NEW YORK, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York City lawmakers are voting to ban cashless businesses.

Lawmakers say businesses that only accept credit and debit cards are discriminating against New Yorker’s who lack bank accounts and credit cards.

The measure, which is expected to go into effect by the end of the year, also prohibits stores from charging higher prices for paying in cash.
