Three Safest Towns in the Capital Region in 2018

New York News

New York State has nearly 50 towns with a violent crime rate that is 94 percent lower than the national average, according to the latest FBI report.

The property crime rate for the entire state is 40 percent less than the national average, according to those numbers.

Safewise examined the data and outlined the 50 safest towns in the state.

If you’re looking for the safest places to live and work you’ll have to look north of the Big Apple itself.  Three local communities made it onto the top 50 list.

Both Guilderland and Stillwater have violent crimes rates of less than 3 percent.  Guilderland was the only town in the Capital Region that had a population of more than 30,000. Stillwater and Cairo are much smaller communities with a population of less than 7,000

The FBI report also showed there were fewer than 300 murders in New York city, that’s the lowest number since officials started keeping records.  Nearly 30 years ago the murder rate in New York City peaked at more than 2,000 homicides.
