New York State Police arrested a man they say tried to take a holiday gift using an axe.
Police say Sean Date, 54, and the victim were given $30 to share by a customer as a gift for their refuse collection services. Date is accused of trying to forcibly take the entire $30 from the victim with an axe.
Date was charged with first-degree robbery, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
He was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $500 cash of $1,000 bond.
