New York State Police in Homer are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the person(s) responsible for throwing two dogs out of a moving vehicle in Cortland County on Wednesday, December 12.

Troopers driving on I-81 in the Whitney Point area noticed a tractor-trailer pulled over in the left lane. The driver was located down the road carrying a badly injured dog and escorting a second.

According to the truck driver, an older Dodge Durango, which had rust along the hatch near the bumper area, slowed down and tossed both dogs out of the passenger window.

The vehicle was traveling south on I-81 between the Marathon and Whitney Point exit at approximately 9:30 a.m. Wednesday,

Both dogs, who are believed to be a beagle mix, were treated at the scene and were taken possession by The Broome County Humane Society.
