The New York Governor’s Office announced a campaign to make the property tax cap permanent in the state.

In 2011, New York passed and enacted a two percent tax cap.

The governor’s office says since the implementation of the tax cap, local taxpayers have saved more than $24.4 billion.

As part of the campaign, the governor’s office released a property tax cap calculator for property owners to estimate their savings if the tax cap was made permanent.
