Bill would give NY inmates the right to vote

New York News

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A new bill in the New York Senate would give inmates inside correctional facilities the right to vote.

The bill would require the votes to be done under supervision and would require county boards of elections to establish a voter registration program.

The move is drawing criticism from lawmakers across the state.

The bill was introduced by Kevin Parker, a Brooklyn Democrat.
