Niskayuna water main break, no boil water order

NISKAYUNA, N.Y. (NEWS10) – There is a water main break on Huntingdon Drive in Niskayuna. The local water department was notified of the break and have not put a water boil order in place.

CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens release COVID-19 vaccine information

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)- CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens said they will be offering the COVID-19 vaccine to residents who qualify to receive it as soon as it becomes available. In New York groups in 1a and 1b are eligible to get vaccinated.

Walgreens has been providing vaccine to skilled nursing facilities. CVS is providing them at limited locations, while Rite Aid said they will most likely have vaccine available during phase 2 and phase 3 of distribution.

Some Democrats upset stimulus checks are $1,400 and not $2,000

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) -- When President-elect Joe Biden unveiled his $1.9 trillion coronavirus plan on Thursday night, a number of people were surprised to learn stimulus checks would be $1,400 and not the $2,000 figure tossed around in previous weeks. Among those people caught off guard was high-profile Democratic lawmaker Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

″$2,000 means $2,000. $2,000 does not mean $1,400,” The New York lawmaker told The Washington Post.

Assembly Republicans call for local involvement in vaccine distribution

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Several Republican Assemblymembers called on Governor Andrew Cuomo and Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker to allow local municipalities to play a larger role in the vaccine distribution process. They sent a letter Friday outlining why they feel the vaccine distribution needs more involvement at the local level.

Assemblymembers are concerned vaccine distribution has been far too slow and believes that giving local authorities a say in vaccine distribution will help them be distributed more quickly. It will also allow communities to distribute the vaccine based on the unique needs and circumstances of that area.
