New unemployment numbers indicate the rate of joblessness in the U.S. is the lowest its been in decades.

According to the Department of Labor, the unemployment rate fell to 3.7 percent in September.

That’s the lowest rate in 49 years since December of 1969.

A total of 134,000 jobs were added last month. That’s below expectations and below the monthly average for the year.

The Labor Department says Hurricane Florence impacted results for the month.
