Get those calculators ready. Today is National Pi Day! It’s the 14th day of the third month, or 3.14.
As you know the mathematical constant is represented by the Greek letter Pi. It’s the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter.
Local students have their own equations of celebration.
SUNY Polytechnic Institute is hosting 4th grade students from Glencliff Elementary School starting at 10 this morning. Tech Valley High School students will demostrate a microscope project they’ve been working on. SUNY Poly volunteers will also teach the concepts of Pi through different activities.
Meanwhile, Siena College will celebrate by having students solve math equations. When they get a correct answer, they will get to “pie” a professor in the face.
