‘Musical Fairy Godmother’: Collecting buried treasure for students

News

You may have seen the flyer around the Capital Region: “Buried Treasure Wanted.”

Jill Rifkin is behind those captivating posters.

When she isn’t singing, you can find this volunteer for the Albany Symphony Vanguard collecting gently-used instruments to donate to schools and low income students in the Capital Region.

Orchestrating the program out of her home, she’s collected more than 150 musical instruments.

If you’re interested in donating a musical instrument, you can take them down to the Albany Symphony Box Office:

19 Clinton Avenue
Albany, NY 12207

They’re open Mon.-Fri. 9am-5pm. When you drop off your instruments, you’ll recieve a 20% off discount for Albany Symphony tickets.
