WATERVLIET, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A U.S. Marine is in custody of the New York State Police after a lockdown at the Watervliet Arsenal Wednesday.
The incident took place over several hours Wednesday afternoon. Many police departments responded to the scene, and all entrances and exits to the building were secured.
According to officials, the Arsenal was placed into lockdown after Department of the Army employees reported seeing a person with a knife. The suspect was later arrested outside his Menands residence.
Officials said he is a Marine assigned to the Marine Corps Recruiting Station Albany located on the Arsenal.
The lockdown was lifted by 6 p.m. Wednesday, and police said there was no additional threat in place.
The investigation remains ongoing.
