Victims of domestic violence can now terminate contracts without penalty


ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation requiring companies to allow victims of domestic violence to terminate contracts without penalty.

The governor’s office says the law will allow any victims to cancel a multi-year or bundled contract with a telephone, cable, or satellite company, to terminate their contract without penalty.

Victims can submit a written claim to terminate their contracts.
