Madison VanDenburg came in 3rd place during the American Idol finale.
While everyone at the Shaker High School viewing party was hoping that she would win the show, VanDenburg’s classmates said they are so proud of all that she has accomplished.
“We are very sad in the outcome, we are not disappointed at all in Madison because she gave it her all, and we know that she is our American Idol and she’s amazing,” stated Shannon Lipscomb, a friend of VanDenburg.
VanDenburg’s hometown visit was shown during the finale. The viewing party audience cheered when Shaker High School was shown.
The school’s superintendent, Joseph Corr called her a role model.
“Madison is an example that if you work hard and persist, and you do the right thing, that good things will happen so Madison is a tremendous inspiration to us all, to our Students, to me, to our community,” explained Corr.
Her schoolmates say even though she didn’t win, her musical career is far from over.
“We are just so proud of her and we are waiting for her when she gets back to show we are still supporting her through everything,” said friend, Mariam Rahman. “Not making it to the top doesn’t mean she hasn’t made it for us.”
“We were just talking to someone else who reminded us Jeniffer Hudson and Chris Allen didn’t win American Idol and still had great careers,” stated Shannon Lipscomb. “We are hopeful that she will get a record deal and make music because she is so amazing and has a great voice.”
