SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Proctors in Schenectady is holding a special three-day clearance sale. The money will benefit the School of Performing Arts.
A treasure hunt for old relics of off-Broadway shows and film memorabilia was taking place inside the 92-year-old theatre.
“It’s a crazy mix of everything from a 40-channel sound desk used to mix Broadway shows to chatchkes like bendy ballerinas.”
Items you can’t buy anywhere else these days.
“We’ve been around for 90 years, so we have a lot of stuff in the basement.”
Jahn Bonfiglio stumbled upon one of those gems.
“I found an old credit card machine,” he demonstrated. “Used to work with this in the store when I was a kid growing up.”
And Sheri DeLuke brought her daughter to hunt for the bargains.
“Some great show t-shirt. Heavily discounted,” she said. “You can get things for $1 or $5.”
Because everything has to go in the next three days. Need an old school vending machine? You might have to update the price.
There was a little something for everyone from the theatre lover to the collector.
“Probably end up holding on to it for a little while. Really the kind of thing that starts conversations like this.”
If you’re willing to haggle, the prices are negotiable. The sale continues from noon to 5 p.m. on Thursday, and noon to 7 p.m. on Friday.
