TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The City of Troy is in the process of applying for a $10 million grant in an effort to revitalize much of the downtown area.
The Downtown Revitalization Initiative is focusing efforts on the Monument Square area in Troy, specifically the space where city hall used to sit.
At a meeting at the Troy Innovation Garage Tuesday evening, the city sought responses from residents about what they would want to see on the site. The overwhelming response from those in attendance was converting the land into open green space and expanding Riverfront Park.
Other plans have proposed building on the property, potentially a new city hall or a movie theater, but those ideas were not mentioned at Tuesday’s meeting.
