TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - In a wrap-up conference Tuesday for the 71st annual Troy Turkey Trot, the City of Troy's Mayor Madden presented a $15,000 check to two non-profit groups: Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York and Joseph's House and Shelter.

This year 6,425 participants raised than $12,000 from online registration donations. Pioneer Bank, which has sponsored the event for the past 22 years, also matched all donations up to $2,500.

"It was more than we raised last year so I feel really good about it," according to the Troy Turkey Trot Event Director George Regan.

The road race is known as a Thanksgiving tradition in the Capital Region.
