A trial date of October 1 has been set for alleged cult leader Keith Raniere and actress Allison Mack. They both face federal sex trafficking charges for their roles in NXIVM.

Allison Mack ignored all of NEWS10 ABC’S questions as she entered federal court on Friday.

“He steadfastly denies these charges. I expect that we’re going to have a very vigorous defense,” Marc Agnifilo, Raniere’s defense attorney, said.

“The fact that you haven’t heard from him doesn’t mean that he doesn’t maintain his innocence and doesn’t have a lot to say. He does,” Paul DerOhnessian, Raniere’s defense attorney, said.

Raniere’s attorneys spoke outside court saying all of the women involved in NXIVM did so willingly.

“There are well-known groups of men who brand themselves but a group of women decides to brand themselves and we assume that they’re victims,” Agnifilo said.

Toni Natalie is a former girlfriend of Raniere’s and has been outspoken since his arrest.

“This sociopath and his partners this has been going on for a long time.”

The government saying they expect a superseding indictment to come in the weeks ahead, along with more arrests.

Something Natalie says needs to happen.

“There are people who are completely culpable. They’re culpable and they need to be brought to justice.”

Raniere and Mack have another court appearance scheduled for June 12.
