The New York State Thruway Authority announced it is starting two infrastructure and pavement improvement projects on the NYS Thruway (I-87) in Albany and Greene Counties.
The pavement improvement projects will take place on the Thruway (I-87) between exit 21 (Catskill – Cairo – NY Route 23) and exit 23 (Albany – Troy – Rensselaer – I-787 – Route 9W).
Officials say the projects feature the milling and resurfacing of approximately 80 lane miles of roadway to the north and southbound travel lanes of the Thruway. The project also includes the installation of new mile markers and reflective line striping for enhanced safety.
Work will be completed mostly during the night Monday through Friday between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. through the end of the year, weather permitting.
Officials expect minimal delays during the duration of the project. Motorists are reminded to reduce speeds in work zones and watch for construction workers.
