Teen arrested for stealing car to repay drug debt

GRANVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) - State Police arrested a17-year-old Hampton teen after a Cadillac Seville was stolen from an automotive repair shop from the Town of Whitehall in September.

Police say the teen had an unpaid debt of $80 to a drug dealer from Vermont and agreed to repay that debt by delivering a car to the subject and stashing it in a wooded area in Fair Haven where it could be picked up.

The New York State Police in conjunction with Fair Haven Police were able to locate the stolen Cadillac in a wooded lot behind the Fair Haven grade school.

The 17-year-old male was arrested and charged for Felony Grand Larceny 4th Degree, and Vehicle and Traffic violations for having no drivers license.
