Students in Colonie participated in Global Youth Service Day by helping a local veterans center.
For three hours, students sorted and packed a raft of personal care items to be donated to the Veterans Miracle Center.
They also spent time doing some spring cleaning at the Colonie Veterans Memorial at the Crossings.
“I helped plan this event along with Laura Archambault and my advisors, Ms. Morgan and Ms. Shieler, and it’s been a great experience learning how to plan this and how to help the community and the Veterans Miracle Center,” said Shannon Lipscomb, sophomore at Shaker High School.
Global Youth Service Day is billed as the world’s largest service event with students around the world together doing volunteer work on a single day.
