State police investigating alleged altercation involving Cohoes Mayor

New York State police are investigating an altercation between Cohoes Mayor Shawn Morse and another male.

State police released a statement that said, “Cohoes Police Department has requested that the State Police handle an investigation into a report of a physical and verbal altercation that occurred at the Mayor’s residence between the Mayor and an adult male.”

Mayor Morse said he was at home watching TV Friday night when a person banged on his door and made a threat to him. The mayor said when that person refused to leave his property, he called the Cohoes police, who then turned it over to State police.

Mayor Morse said while there was no physical altercation, he did push the man out of the way so that he could close his door, but said no one was hurt.

When asked who the person was who made the threat, the mayor did not want to release his name or what the threat entailed. News 10 is trying to get more information on air and online.
