ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — After months of denying the requests of NEWS10 ABC, the state finally handed over documents that could give former workers at St. Clare’s Hospital some answers as to why they’ve been shut out of their pensions.
NEWS10 first reported on Tuesday the Department of Health had extended the time frame to provide documents requested by our reporters. On Thursday, those documents were suddenly sent to NEWS10.
“We’ve lived through these things so we know them to be true. It’s just getting proof and that’s what you have now,” said pensioner Mary Hartshorne.
She still has hope that the pensions will be restored. Hartshorne says after she had a private meeting with the Bishop she’s confident there will be a solution. But, she’s not so satisfied with the state.
“As far as Governor Cuomo, he has had not one ounce of interest in anything we’ve had to say.”
She has a follow-up meeting with the Bishop at the end of May.
Even though NEWS10 received a response from the DOH, others who filed FOIL requests still have not.
