Siena College taking part in ‘What’s My Name’ safety campaign

One local college is joining a nationwide campaign to promote safety when it comes to students and ridesharing.

It stems from the murder of a University of South Carolina student who got into a car she thought was an Uber.

Siena is taking part in the What’s my Name safety campaign, which encourages ridesharing customers to ask their driver to identify their name and check the car’s license plate number.

The college is spreading the word among the Siena community through social media and printed flyers.

Many students said they are making changes to how they use ridesharing and are staying especially vigilant when drinking.
