Second annual Henry Johnson Day held in Albany

People gathered in Albany to honor the life and legacy of World War I hero and Capital Region native Henry Johnson.

The second annual Henry Johnson Day marks 100 year since he performed the brave act that earned him the Medal of Honor.

Officials also announced Jahkeen Hoke, the co-founder of 4th Family Inc., as the winner of the Henry Johnson Award. The award is given to a person who has shown outstanding community service.

The Albany Housing Coalitions’ Veterans House on First Street was also renamed to Sergeant Henry Johnson Veterans House. 

A medallion in his honor was also presented.
