Schenectady County officials say they have detected a virus in its computer network.

Officials say steps are currently being taken to cleanse the system. In order to cleanse the system, the county’s website and email system are temporarily being shut down.

The process is expected to take a week and priority systems will be brought back online as quickly as possible.

Officials say there is no evidence of a data breach due to the virus.

Systems that are not affected include the 911 Central Dispatch Center, Glendale Nursing Home, Board of Elections, Public Health, Senior Long-Term Care, the County Library System, and its Department of Social Services.

The county is working with federal and state officials on the issue.
