A local 2013 rape case will be mentioned on Investigative Discovery’s In Pursuit show hosted by John Walsh Wednesday night.
The show will mention Michael Hawkins, known as “Zombie Mike”, who is accused of raping a person incapable of consent from two separate incidents, one of which his victim was wheelchair bound.
Police say Hawkins currently has an active arrest warrant out of Rotterdam and has been able to evade police since 2013.
Rotterdam Police Lt. William Male says this exposure could help generate leads.
“The more people who are aware that he’s still at large, the better,” said Male.
Hawkins is charged with rape, aggravated sex abuse, and criminal sex act.
The U.S. Marshals Service says he has been known to travel and worked for different carnivals around the country.
Ciminal investigator Anthony Loguidice is the lead on the case and says Hawkins could be anywhere in the country or even overseas.
“Just the brief clips help. And if it generates any kind of decent leads and stuff it could add to more of a spotlight on the case,” said Loguidice.
Hawkins is described as being 5’9″, weighing approximately 160 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. He has a grim reaper tattoo on his chest, a scar on his face, and a scar on his arm.
Rotterdam Police have turned the case over the U.S. Marshals who are looking for tips in finding Hawkins.
There is up to a $5,000 reward for information directly leading to his arrest.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the U.S. Marshals at 1-877-926-8332.
The show airs at 10 p.m.
