Police: Pedestrian seriously injured while crossing Wolf Rd

A Troy man was seriously injured Thursday morning when he was hit by a car while crossing Wolf Road in Colonie, police say.

Colonie Police say 65-year-old Gerald Buchanan was in a crosswalk crossing Wolf Road at the intersection with Sand Creek road around 7:45 a.m. Thursday when he was hit by a car turning onto Wolf Road from Sand Creek Road.

Buchanan suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Albany Medical Center. The driver of the car was not injured and stopped immediately after the crash.

Colonie Police say neither speed, alcohol, or drugs appear to have been contributing factors to the crash, though the crash still remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash should contact the Colonie Police Department Traffic Safety Unit at 518-783-2744 or 518-782-2620.
