A Poughkeepsie man was arrested on Tuesday while trying to leave the country for allegedly threatening to blow up a New York State government building, New York State Police say.

Dominick Volino, 53, was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat for allegedly writing a letter threatening to blow up a New York State courthouse in New York City. State Police say Volino mailed the letter from Poughkeepsie.

State Police say Volino’s letter was forwarded to them in January 2019 which lead to an investigation ending in Volino’s arrest Tuesday at the Fort Lauderdale Airport while he was attempting to fly to Honduras.

Volino was arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Poughkeepsie Court on later this week.
