The Troy Police Department arrested a woman they say caused the death of her baby.
On June 14, 2018, police responded to a residence on 7th Avenue for a report of a child in cardiac arrest.
The child, Jacquez Jackson, was taken to Samaritan Hospital where he later died.
An autopsy was conducted and determined the cause of death to be a homicide as a result of blunt force trauma to the abdomen.
Following a lengthy investigation, police arrested the child’s mother Kiona Jackson, 21, on Thursday. She was charged with two counts of second-degree murder (one due to the age of the child and the other for depraved indifference) and one count of second-degree manslaughter.
